GBW Health Room Information
GREENBRIAR WEST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Fairfax County Public Schools and the Fairfax County Health Department work together to ensure a safe and healthy environment for learning. This partnership provides each student access to a Health Room, a Public Health Nurse (PHN), and a School Health Aide (SHA) to provide health services.
Your School Health Team:
- Jeannie Jeong, BSN, RN Public Health Nurse (PHN) covers a number of schools and visits Greenbriar West ES each week. She is responsible for developing a plan of care for students with chronic health conditions, training staff members to care for students with health concerns, and for the supervising of the day-to-day operations of the Health Room (clinic).
Email: @email; Phone: 571-585-6384.
- Stacy Cappellari is the School Health Aide (SHA) who is here each day while the students are in school. She delivers care to sick and injured students according to specific guidelines and/or care plans and administers medications. Health Room phone: 703-633-6710; M-F 9:20 am - 4:05 pm.
How You Can Help:
- Health Information Forms (HIF) listing specific health conditions that may impact your child’s school day. A Medical Flag List is generated so teachers know about student health conditions. All information regarding health conditions is kept confidential in the school.
- Please contact the Health Room if health conditions change throughout the school year
- Emergency Care Information should be kept up to date.
- Provide the lunch staff with a doctor’s statement of any dietary restrictions.
- Keep your child home for fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or other symptoms of communicable diseases such as rashes or eye irritation. Students should not return to school until they have been symptom-free (without medication) for 24 hours or a health care provider gives them permission to return to school.
Medications:
- Medication should be taken at home whenever possible.
- Each medication requires a medication authorization form completed by a parent and physician. Forms and instructions are available at https://www.fcps.edu/index.php/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services at the bottom of the page or in the health room.
- All medication must be in the original container. The physician’s order and the pharmacy label must match.
Consider:
- A change of clothes in case of an accident.
If your child has a chronic health condition that you would like to discuss with the nurse before school starts, contact the School Public Health Nurse Jeannie Jeong, BSN, RN at @email; Phone: 571-585-6384.
